Consuming Dynamics AX 365FO Data entities using Web API (Part 2)

$

In this part of blog we will discuss, how we can create App on Azure, which is mandatory for creating this integration, if you have not gone through my last blog about setting up projects for creating this integration then please go through that

Consuming Dynamics AX 365FO Data entities using Web API (Part 1)

Now to start this:

1. We need to login to https://portal.azure.com we need Azure subscription, without Azure subscription we can not do this integration with D365FO

2. We could also create Trial subscription for demo purpose
Create an Azure trial

Once we are logged in to Azure then we will have interface like this and we will do these steps for creating Web Api App on Azure.

We need to click Azure Active Directory on Left pane, and then click App registration on center pane

Click New Application registration
Fill out App name, type (Native or WebApi) and Url that could be http://localhost. Click create to create the App.
Once app is created, click settings for giving access. Also note down the Application Id, This will be used in the Web api project we will create for consuming the data entity.

Click Add on Required permission page and add Microsoft Dynamics ERP permission and Grant it also.

Create private Key also, this is needed form Web Api apps. Please take a note of this also, this will be used as ActiveDirectoryClientAppSecret key in you web api application project.
We also need to list this application inside dynamics ax 365, In system administration module> Setup > Azure Active Directory applications. We need to place the Application id on this form

This concludes the Azure configuration part and listing of App on Azure portal, in the next blog we will see how we can consume Odata entities inside Web api project and how to make this integration happen.

Thanks

Amir Happy Daxing.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central: Advanced Reporting and Budgeting

This article focuses on the launch of Dynamics 365 Business Central and how to enable decision making for managers and executives

I used to spend more than 70,000 hours helping organizations achieve success with ERP/CPM/CRM solutions, on a cloudy autumn day in 1982, my second year into my accounting degree, I experienced the birth of the first generation CPM tool. On that day, before me was VisiCalc spreadsheet software on an Apple II Plus. The President of Videx, Paul Davis, was telling me how this technology was enabling his startup that created a circuit board to expand Apple II’s 40 column screen to 80, and his function key pad for the Apple II keyboard would make it easier to budget, model, plan, and analyze his company’s business. His passion to spread the value of his creation by working with Steve Jobs and Wozniak’s engineering team to deliver the beginnings of a corporate performance management solution was not lost on me.

After 33 years in providing ERP/CPM/CRM software for organizations and most of those years with the Microsoft Dynamics product line, I can say with some confidence the newly released Microsoft Dynamics Business Central will be a leading Cloud ERP system. Like most Cloud ERP systems, transaction processing, such as order processing to collection of payment, is managed well. Departments work together seamlessly by the interdepartmental flow of transactions and shared business processing rules. What is unclear is how a Cloud ERP system can enable world-class decision making by business unit managers and executives.

Cloud is new, and therefore Cloud ERPs such as Dynamics 365 Business Central have been outfitted with the latest technology, offer modern user experience, secure application programming interface (API), and the ability to extend with industry or user specific functionality through custom programming or independent software vendor application add-ons. Improvements in Cloud ERP systems have focused on reducing the costs to process transactions with more categorization, improving user satisfaction, compliance, security, and reducing the cost to extract information out of the ERP for departmental managers to optimize business process decisions.

What is missing from Cloud ERPs, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central are tools for executives and business unit managers to make world-class decisions. To read more about Dynamics 365 Business Central and the 13 times I will list that represent what a world-class CPM solution should have, click here.

‘Build Your Own’ Focus Conference: Customized Microsoft Dynamics 365/AX Training

Customization. We all have unique needs when it comes to our jobs and our interests. It can be difficult to find ways to modify your education to fit your preferences, but the upcoming Focus conference, held May 21-24, 2018 in Indianapolis, provides just that!

Focus does things a little differently than our traditional conferences. Instead of having sessions from all involved user groups at the same time, the conference is split up into four, two-day mini-conferences. All Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics 365, AX, CRM and NAV users are invited to join their peers and technical experts in the "Crossroads of America" where you can pick and choose which Focus conference to attend, best suited to your skills and interests.

Monday, May 21- Tuesday, May 22, 2018

Wednesday, May 23- Thursday, May 24, 2018

Create your dream combo
Customize your training experience at Focus based on what products you use, the industry you work in, and your role! Are you interested in learning about multiple products? Register for both conferences! (Note: You are able to attend user group sessions happening concurrently for free.) Then within each conference, customize your schedule even further based on targeted, role-based learning tracks. It's almost like we've created the Subway sandwich of conferences - you can create many different combinations that offer YOU a unique conference customized to fit YOUR needs.

Look at your Dynamics 365/AX track options:

  • Project Accounting
  • Functional
  • Technical D365FO
  • Master Planning
  • Security & Compliance

Now let's look at some scenarios... Say you're:

  • A Dynamics 365/AX user in a system administrator role who is interested in learning more about Power BI. Register for D365UG/AXUG, add on two days of Power BI training and then attend sessions in the D365UG/AXUG Master Planning track.
  • A Dynamics 365/AX user in a developer role who is interested in learning more about Dynamics 365/CRM. Register for D365UG/AXUG, attend sessions in the Developer track, and simultaneously enjoy access to D365UG/CRMUG sessions.

Isn't that fun?
It's just like building out that perfect, delicious sandwich from Subway - you select what you want and leave out what's not important to you. We don't want to limit your time to only one track and one topic - if your interests overlap, so should your training.

When hunger hits
Our Focus conference is perfect for those who are hungry to learn more about the products they work in every day. Each session is a 90-minute, deep-dive, covering intermediate-to-advanced topics. You won’t find training like that anywhere else!

To wrap it up (sorry for all the sandwich puns), we hope to see you at Focus this May in Indianapolis for customized Dynamics 365/AX training:

Hi, These days i am exploring Chat bots and possible implementation with Dynamics AX 365. It is exciting new thing with lots of interesting implementations. I will share some practical details in future blogs on how we can make chat bot integrated with Dynamics AX 365 but just to create the Buzz and sharing what i am exploring right now.

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/bot-service/

There is a great course available on Microsoft Virtual Academy
Creating Bots in the Microsoft Bot Framework Using C#

Then i am finding this good blog on configuring the environment for Chat bot development
Configure environment for Chat bot for C# chatbot development

Then we have good channel 9 video available
https://channel9.msdn.com/Blogs/MVP-Azure/build-a-chatbot-with-azure-bot-service

I am also seeing one practical implementation but with Dynamics CRM, This is also good interesting read.
Build a Chatbot for Dynamics CRM

There are lots of ideas in mind related to Chatbot Dynamics ax 365 integration that can be implemented. for example

  1. AX Admin Bot: Who can perform maintenance work on AX system, Like restarts, Sync, Compile etc.
  2. Payable/Receivable Bot: A bot who can provide you some automation, like making some analytics results, or allowing you to create Purchase order or Sales order, if you are away form your system and via Skype or any other channel you can give command to your chatbot to some stuff for you.
  3. Expense creator: A bot who can book your expenses on the fly.
  4. Health Care Bot: My company Mazik Global is doing lots of things on Health care and Chat bots on the Health care is future.  Chatbots Will Serve As Health Assistants

Keep looking this topic i will share some details demo in future blogs.

Searching on the Internet I found the following post in Microsoft Support:

However, after read that I thought that my problem should be due to my code, so i have decided to take a fresh and closer look on code and i found

subscriptionEndDate =resultSet.getDate(4);

So, in conclusion: I made a stupid mistake, This error is shown if you try to get an index that you previously obtained before.
